Body Mind & Sole School of Reflexology teaches I.T.E.C. Level 3 diplomas in Reflexology, Anatomy & Physiology and Business Awareness & Professional Conduct and is the only I.T.E.C. accredited school in West Wales.
Our Aim
Our aim is to provide students with the necessary support and guidance to achieve the highest professional standard and to give them the skills and confidence needed to embark on a new career as professional therapists.
The Courses
The course is completed over 10 weekends approx three weeks apart (see course dates), taking into account any holiday periods. During this time coursework consists of both practical and theory. Homework is in the form of essays to show evidence of further reading and research and practical work with each student treating 10 clients four times each including case studies. Mock examinations will be carried out before the finals.
The minimum age of entry to ITEC examination is 18 years at completion of training course. No experience is necessary as full instruction and guidance will be given throughout the course.
The Venue
The courses are held at Llangybi Community School, West Wales, a modern teaching facility that offers a high level of equipment and teaching aids. The facility offers comfortable light rooms for study; both theory and practical study are catered for either in the classrooms or the multi-purpose hall. There are rest areas including a lounge with adjoining kitchen for breaks.
Llangybi is a pretty village, typical of the small villages dotted around rural West Wales. It is situated 4 miles from the university town of Lampeter, which is very popular with holidaymakers.
The Tutor
Having worked for many years within the field of learning difficulties, both as a Residential Manager responsible for the running of two residential homes providing accommodation for adults with learning difficulties and then as a Respite Manager, Mike felt that his life needed a change of direction and decided to develop a life-long interest in complementary health. He qualified in Reflexology and Anatomy & Physiology in 1999 and immediately opened a clinic in Lampeter, West Wales.
Over the past eight years other therapies have been added to his range of skills including the Bowen Technique, Indian Head Massage and Reiki Healing. Mike has been teaching Reflexology at Coleg Ceredigion, Aberystwyth for four years and it was this experience that created the interest in teaching that lead him to undertake his Teacher Training and in September 2002 he enrolled on a P.G.C.E. course and is now a qualified college lecturer. This qualification along with his clinical experience has enabled him to be accepted as an approved I.T.E.C. tutor.
Mike’s aim is to deliver training of the highest standard, giving his students the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed to become successful, professional practitioners and to play their part in the continuing expansion and acceptance of complementary therapies.
